Would you like to stop worry, anger or depression from consuming your energy and distracting you from achieving your goals? Would you like to meet new people and have more confidence in social situations? Would you like to get your relationships more in line with where you want them to be?
Everyone who cares, struggles. Even about caring sometimes. Our greatest struggles require us to rise to the challenge by creating our greatest ideas and tapping in to our greatest strengths. This is how we forge our greatest successes. Good news! I offer a space where you don’t have to be an expert or have any special answers before you arrive. We can move towards that goal from wherever you are at right now. Treating anxiety, men’s issues and self esteem is my forte. Specifically, my niche is working with people from environments where perfectionism, shame or high conflict dynamics have dominated the work, school, family or social culture.
I also commonly counsel clients of all backgrounds for issues including: anger management, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, career concerns, relationship conflict and parenting strategies to name a few. If you wonder how you got stuck, if you are short on coping skills, or if you feel like you have had to disown your authenticity, anger, playfulness and/or general sense of identity to adapt, I’m your guy! Most importantly, if you want to move towards meaningful change, l’m definitely your guy!
I offer a laid back, human approach to the counseling process that supports gaining a better understanding of yourself, your values and your options. Let me help you create the skills and attitude you need to align with how you want to feel, how you approach situations and who you want to be.
Anxiety can be crippling. Worry, tension, restlessness, physical discomfort, and digestive issues are just a few of the hallmarks associated with anxiety. Although anxiety can feel like a lifelong prison sentence, you should know that it is very possible to feel significant relief in a short period of time if you seek treatment. I can help you to build the skills you need to manage worry and expand your comfort zone so you can begin to experience new things, meet new people, and devote your energy to pleasurable pursuits.
Men are typically taught to be strong, self-reliant and emotionally stoic service providers. Balancing issues like freedom and responsibility, confidence and humility, or ambition and connection are healthy aspects of masculinity relatively few are shown. The disconnect is real! Stepping out of reactive daily patterns like overachievement, people pleasing, anger and withdrawal will deepen your ability to set the tone in an intentional, wise and enduring way. You owe it to yourself and those you care for to not abandon your masculinity but to honor it and refine it in to something that gives you a stronger sense of purpose .
Self-esteem impacts our lives in countless ways. It is easy to base our entire opinion of ourselves on factors like our accomplishments and the acknowledgement we receive from others, or the lack there of. While this philosophy can motivate us to achieve things and put our best foot forward with relationships, it tends to leave us feeling deflated during those normal moments in life where we are unable to accomplish our goals or others have an unfavorable reaction to us. Learning the concept of unconditional self-acceptance is a pathway to preserving true self-esteem no matter what we achieve, while allowing us to relieve the anxiety of “having to do good.” Ironically enough, this often can lift us out of those depressive moods and gives us the confidence and inner stability to willingly be our most effective selves.
